Trinity is facilitating the purchase of a poem by Sewanee professor Gerald Smith printed on artwork by Asheville artist Gail S. Drozd.

When Hurricane Helene hit, Gail’s Misty Blu was being shown at the Marquee in Asheville. That iconic gallery was flooded with 16 feet of water and muck. More than 250 artists’ works and vendors’ collections were submerged, with little hope of recovering anything. Fourteen days later, Misty Blu and another of Gail’s pieces were rescued. It’s a small miracle that this  painting rose above and now stands with Gerald Smith’s poem, “Bones.”

This 11x17" poster features the poem "Bones" written by Gerald Smith, retired Robert M. Ayres, Jr. Distinguished University Professor at Sewanee: The University of the South. The artwork is by Gail S. Drozd, a native of Michigan who currently lives in Weaverville, NC.
