Billy's father was Tom Morrisey, Sr., Sheriff of Buncombe County. It only made sense that Billy would want to follow in his father's footsteps. It was said of Billy that there wasn't anything he couldn't do while working at the Sheriff's Office including shredding, building and vehicle maintenance, and keeping the judges' parking spaces cleaned. He was "hard-working and dependable." If you ever met McGruff the Crime Dog it may well have been Billy inside the costume.
Billy is also a volunteer firefighter and is very active here at Trinity as usher, acolyte, kitchen helper, and anything else he can help with. He also volunteers with the Lion's Club at Camp Dogwood.
Billy has now retired after working under four Sheriffs. We are all sure that his award will hang proudly in Billy's home.
