Telecoil

What is Telecoil?

  • A Telecoil, also known as a T-coil, is a small coil of wire embedded in many hearing aids and some cochlear implants.

  • When activated, the Telecoil picks up electromagnetic signals directly from compatible sound systems, bypassing ambient noise and improving sound clarity.

  • It allows users to hear audio signals more clearly without relying solely on the external microphone of their hearing device.

How Does It Work?

  1. Switching to Telecoil Mode:

    • If you have a hearing aid or cochlear implant with a Telecoil, simply switch to the Telecoil mode.

    • Most devices have a dedicated button or setting for this purpose.

  2. In Our Worship Space:

    • Our church has installed a loop system (also known as an induction loop) that emits a magnetic field.

    • When you activate your Telecoil, it picks up the magnetic signal from the loop system.

    • This allows you to hear the spoken word, music, and other audio content directly through your hearing device.

  3. Benefits:

    • Improved sound quality: Telecoil technology reduces background noise and enhances speech clarity.

    • Inclusive experience: Everyone, regardless of hearing ability, can participate fully in our worship services.

  4. How to Use It:

    • Sit in the Nave of the church

    • Activate your Telecoil mode on your hearing aid or cochlear implant.

    • Enjoy a clear and personalized listening experience during the service.

Additional Information:

  • If you’re unsure whether your hearing device has a Telecoil, consult your audiologist or refer to your device’s user manual.

  • Our ushers and greeters are trained to assist you with any questions related to the Telecoil service.

We invite you to experience worship with enhanced clarity through our Telecoil system. Everyone is welcome, and we look forward to having you join us!
